Lipedema treatments: Billing through health insurance is not possible with us

In a landmark decision dated July 17, 2025, the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) decided that liposuction for lipedema henceforth regardless of the stage of gluteal area , under strict conditions. Previously, the procedure was only recognized as a benefit for stage III on a temporary basis – this transitional arrangement has now been made permanent.

This means that affected patients will in future be able to claim reimbursement from their health insurance company after at least six months of conservative therapy without sufficient success, which we very much welcome.

As a specialist practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery, we are currently not permitted to bill health insurance companies for any procedures . Since we do not have accreditation for billing through the statutory health insurance system, we unfortunately no longer offer Consultation on this topic. Treatment at our practice would still be exclusively privately funded . Dr. G.
